Club inspired thoughts.

Hangin' out at Rapture last night... in between bouts of trying to de-sweat-ify myself in the bathroom alternating with bouts of sweat-re-acquisition on the dance floor, I took some time to sit all dis-interested-third-party like and watch some other people's social interactions.

More and more I am reminded of a cartoon I saw when I was 18.

It was a single panel drawing. It showed a large circle of people, arranged boy-girl-boy-girl.... Each person was turned to face the person to their right, pleading...

"I want YOU!"

... speaking uselessly into the back of the head of their neighbor, who is also turned to the right, saying the same thing, just as uselessly.

It seems a revealing little scene metaphor... well... except for the boy-girl-boy-girl arrangement thingy.

revealing little scene metaphor...

yes, revealing to you at 18 seeing the memorable graphic, and you at several years beyond 18, viewing the real incarnation of it. You are insightful.

do you think the real people in the metaphoric circle of desire can realize the geometric pattern they are enacting while they're in it? Is there any way to change the pattern, or is it inevitable?

i agree.... spectacular LJ icon. Your chin is so sharp, you can use it to open cans.

the social situations with regards to how people act at clubs is interesting... I myself am getting to the point to where I dont so much act on automatic anymore, I tend to watch as I do things with some sense of caution, which helps to the point that I often times just dont care what is going on... I realize so much sometimes that the things I am in are just like you say, cartoonish... pointless... at the end of the night I end up home and back to my reality as it always was.

We usually want what we can't have. Clubs can be a painful reminder of what's missing in our lives, whether it's physical, emotional, or spiritual. Especially when there is alcohol involved. :)

I think you need a break from all that. We should all go out to John's and play LAN games memorial day weekend! (cept for Saturday, I'll be getting the game on pay-for-view, you'd better be there!!!)
